The Covid-19 pandemic has demonstrated that we need stronger collective mechanisms for preparedness and response when it comes to health emergencies.
Senior Minister of Singapore co-chaired the G20 High Level Independent that developed recommendations to the G20 finance ministers that are now being implemented by the World Bank and the World Health Organization in collaboration with the G20.
Mr Shanmugaratnam is currently a member of the UN Secretary General鈥檚 that is tasked with advising the UN in preparations for the Summit of the Future in 2023.

Tharman Shanmugaratnam is Senior Minister in Singapore. He co-chaired the G20 High Level Independent Panel on financing pandemic security in 2021, and currently co-chairs the Global Commission on the Economics of Water. He is on the UN High-Level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism and had earlier led the G20 Eminent Persons Group on Global Financial Governance.
